Default 3.0 Overboosted steering?

I recently testdrove a 2002 3.0 6speed quattro, and I was put off by the steering feel. Very Camry like. Far too much power assist. I was wondering if the feel of the B6 1.8t has the same boosted steering feel, or did they make the 3.0 with more power assist because it was supposed to be more luxurious or what?

If the 1.8t has the same feel, I would be crushed, because then I could never get an A4

Yeah I drove my parents Nissan Xterra a couple days ago, and the steering in that is much less power assisted, it was so nice. I wonder if you could change the pulley on the power steering pump or anything like that?

I don't think the power steering on the B6 3.0 is over-assisted. I think it has nice road feel. Remember, the 3.0 is more of a performance luxury car. I find the steering to be very smooth and responsive. That said, I prefer the steering on my TT. Just the right amount of feel, not over modulated at all.
