3 Beeps from right rear on startup
Driving a 2002 A4 quattro. When the car has not been driven for a day or two, it will issue 3 or 4 beeps (more like chirps maybe) from the right rear.No maintenance messages. And it only does it when its been sitting for a day or more. Car is garaged. battery is new (just a month old). Any thoughts?
not sure which side the fuel pump is on the b6 but it could be that just priming the engine for a start up. it should be fine unless u notice that ur car loses power during higher rpms
While doing some research I saw a note suggesting that this type of beeping might be caused by a weak alarm siren battery. That was in a UK post; does anyone know if there is a separate alarm siren battery in the US?
Here's an update for anyone else with this issue. It definitely is the alarm siren beeping, which is apparently a warning that the dedicated alarm battery is low on power. It is a hassle to replace the battery (the whole unit is one piece).
I realized that the car hadn't been locked (e.g., alarm on) in 3 or 4 months, so I decided to see ifmaybe the alarm battery only charges when the car is locked. After leaving the car locked for a week, we haven't had the 3 beeps since. I can't be positive that this was the fix, but I'm thinking that was it.
