i bought some alpine 5 1/4 for my front, the orignals are 4", the factory speakers have 3 monts, and these alpines have 4 monts. i searched this b4 posting and b4 purchasing and found some guys have gotten the 5 1/4 to fit. i was wondering how i could make a custum mount(s), i have tried diff things and it just doesnt wanna go on properly. i found a website that sells mounts but y buy em if i can make em. just wondering if someone can help me out on this and if possible provide some pics as well to.

5 1/4 are not a problem depending on your skill level. I personally did 8" Orion MBs but instead of mounting to the factory door panel locations on my 1999 a4 I mounted a pod to the door it's self a flat panel with some fiberglass behind it making a fulling inclosed pod that fit in front of the window runner mounted the speaker up and put the door panel back over the top. I thought I was going to to 5 1/4s building some sort of fiberglass mount that went in the factory location on the door panel but with shallow enough speakers you can get that extra weight off the panel it's self and save yourself a lot of masking off the panel or cutting some crazy MDF shape to mount to the factory locations. I had about 20 ideas of how I was going to do 5 1/4 s or 6 1/2s up there so shoot me an Email if your car is that same style as a 99 a4 I can help you figure out how to make it work without turning into some desperate hack job but suit your skill level.

are there any speakers that will fit with the factory 3 mounts? in another words, easy bolt in?
