Hi Jereme welcome to the forums.. What engine do you have? Im going to go out on a limb here and say the 2.8L 12v?? If this is so are you talking catback? full exhaust or what? and what brand of exhaust are you talking about?

the only thing you're going to get out of an aftermarket exhaust on a 12V is sound, you probably won't feel any gains at all. i recommend keeping the stock pipes, and getting a high flow muffler and some high flow magnaflow cats (you have two cats)...you can also get a custom conversion to a single-cat setup, which will probably be cheaper than buying two cats, and that's also one less cat that can potentially fail....just make sure if you go the single-cat route that you get a dual-bung cat, that way you can keep both your o2 sensors and avoid CELs

your going to get rid of one of your cats? poor kitty. You may feel alittle out of an exahust but I notice a 1-2mpg icreace on mine that was enough for me.

yes it is the 12 valve, unfortunatly im only 16 and have a limited amount of income. I wanted to get a 97 or 98 with the 30valve engine. But i found a 96 within my price range. So now im just looking to gain back that 18hp that i lost by getting the 12 valve engine.Let me know if there is anything else that you would recomend to help gain it back. Thanks

you can start with a k&n, if you havent read already our cars do not really respond to cold air intakes as the factory one is pretty well engeninred. you will see alittle bit out of that. If you have a manual, you can get a snubmount (just search it) and as stated you could get a mufflershop to put you a less restrictive muffler on there. the one under the back seat got taken out of my car and then a better one put in at the back. I will keep you updated on mods as i remember them.

Exhaust for the 12valve engine will probably have to be a custom job. Good luck gaining the 18 hp back. It will be very costly to gain much hp at all on that engine. Swing by the 12 valve forum on Audiworld for more ideas.
