96 A4 Air Conditioning

How do I check the freon level in a 1996 A4 Quattro?? My compressor comes on but the air that blows out is never cold? What else could be causing this?

Most likely it is low freon. could be bad compressor.

On the 1.8 there is a secondary electric fan that runs when the A?C is on. If this isn't working, your A/C will cut out.

most a/c refill stations will check your freon level for free. it's not something you can do yourself though, it has to be done by a professional

Make sure your car uses R134A. You can buy a 19 oz can of R134A with lubricant and stop leak that has a gauge built in. This sells for $25. You insert it in the low pressure side with the compressor running.
