I believe the suspension problems that your speaking of has nothing to do with the Springs/Shocks, but may actually be a problem with the control arms. BEFORE you purchase the car take it to a audi mechanic so he can tell you what all needs to be done. If it is the control arms, that could be another big expense and as always make sure the timing belt and all associated parts have been changed at 60K to 70K intervals. Don't buy it until you know everything checks out. It'll save you money in the long run.

Ok, where should I start.

1st off. (AUDI) DO NOT GET ONE if you cannot afford maintence. So I am assuming you have a good job, that being said let's get down to buisness.

Switchblade thing not worth save loot for repairs/maintence.

I was 20 when I bought my AUDI.. 1996 A4,Quattro,2.8L,V6Engine...... Now I am 21, let me tell you that ******* car is bleeding me badly. I make good money to.

The Audi I bought when I bought it... needed

Sunroof Fixed
Oli Leak (I fixed this for 90$) Oil Sensor bad
Shocks

Now about 1 month after I had car I wrecked it. WIth no FULL-COVERAGE insurance (my fault) So get Full-Coverage.

I decide to repair car. All in all when this is over I would of spent 15,0000 (5gs for car) other 10 for repairs/upgrades

Now that car is old so be realistic (YOU WILL HAVE TO DO CHANGES SOON)

T-Belt *depending on when it is done*
Clutch * mine went out last week)
Sunroof
Tierods
Control Arms
Shocks
Springs

Right there unless you know someone you already in for a couple grand. Parts and labor.

Also somone pointed out "PRIVATE* sellers. I agree please do not but from dealer YOU WILL GET OWNED!

Good Luck, Look forward to seeing pictures of w/e car you get.

142k miles on a 2.8 is not unheard of.

with regular maint it will run for many more.

just use good plugs/wires
oil/filter, change air/fuel filters reguarly and u should have no problems.

You forgot to mention timing belt. Check the records and see when the last one was done.
