Every time I change the oil on my 98 A4 2.8L I add 5.5 quarts of oil like the manual says it should take, but I find after driving it a few miles that it needs another quart of oil to get the level up to the full mark on the dipstick. After I do this, it does not use any more oil until the next oil change. Does anyone else have this experience? Any thoughts on why?

 

mine takes a little over 6 quarts, that's more than the manual says to use but i'm using a filter with larger capacity.

 

It'll take 6 or 6.2 depending on the oil pan style.
