Default 98 a4 5 speed problem!

I have the 98 audi a4 2.8l with the 5 speed transmission and idk what to do!! replace the transmission, have it rebuilt or it might just be something stupid and simple! the car starts and all that good stuff. you can also put it into gear like through the gate but it wont engage, you can hear it trying to but it wont, same with every other gear, it just wont engage and the clutch has pressure, I have no clue what to do! any help would be awesome!

I think your car has the 01a tranny.. The first gear is known to blow on them. did you have the "card in the spokes" sound for the past some odd thousand miles?

Now that I think of it, as a last ditch effort, you need to try and see if the shifter rods are working right. Since I think you have to take the center axle and exhust down to see the shifter rods, or maybe just the exhaust, pry on your center console cover around your shifter (made of wood) and unscrew your shifter ****. lift the trim and boot off the console and there should be 4 nuts on the bucket to your shifter.. undo them and inspect your linkage operation.... Other than this i have no more ideas..
