98 A4 Quattro 2.8 meets dog at 80mph
I posted this in the wrong forum.....
Hello, a freind of ours recently wiped out an awful lot of the brackets, fascia and lower covers on her 98 A4 Quattro. I am intersted in finding good drawings or pictures of how the inner wheel houses, airdam, cooling lines, wiper reservoir, and skid plate are attached. I unfortunately did not see the car before the damage, and can't help her figure out what to buy from where without at least some pics, but preferably build diagrams. The inner wheel well liner on the drivers side is gone, the airdam is gone, skid plate, gone. There appears to have been a vent tube for the alternator, and there are several broken or missing brackets. Overall, the car is still in great shape, but we would like to repair all of this before the exposed engine and suspension are damaged. Also, the wiper resevoir took a good hit, and the level sensor and part of the resevoir are gone. We are considering locating a car that has been damaged in other areas to use for parts. What vehicles will cross reference for parts? Any help appreciated, we would like to keep this car going, as she really loves it.

ouch, uhm there was a post just the other day with a link to a site with all the part numbers for all that stuff
and the only car to correspond will be the s4, but alot of that crap is one use stuff..so you will most likely have to go to the stealership and pick some of it up

Hey, keep it nice. It is a young lady that owns this little car, and she hit a dog on the freeway, not much to be done about it. First little german car I have ever been asked to look at, and I am trying real hard to be upbeat and happy about it. Personally, I drive an 07 2500HD Duramax 6.6L Diesel, a small dog would have gone right under it.... of course she gets 24+mpg, I get 15.......I am hoping like crazy that what you hear about the prices of german parts is just a mean rumor, she isn't all that old, and only just starting out in her career.
Every dealership parts department I have ever been to has had obsurd prices. WIth any luck, we will find a few A4's in the junkyard. Is there a difference between the A4 models on the front airdam? I know some cars use that trim area to differentiate trim levels. She has a QUattro with the 2.8, but if we find a 1.8 in a junkyard, will any of these pieces cross? Are they the same between a 98 and 99? Thanks!
