Unhappy 98b5 1.8t won't start after rebuild...

Ok so a couple weeks ago i the car broke down. Well as much as i hate to say it, i wasn't suprised. Previous owner neglected it badly. So me and my brother dug into the car deciding to just replace anything bad. So after anew complete head, cams, cam position sensor, timing belt, pvc tube, a few hoses, flexpipe, testpipe (had to replacw the cat anyways), and we cleaned out the oil pan and pickup tube. We also scrubbed all parts we didn't replace. Now it's all together it will not start. At first it had no spark, but now it is sparking but acts like it's flooded. Now heres what bothers me.. the new head had a sensor on the back side the old one did not. I have no idea what its for... so tomorrow we are going to do some troubleshooting. Anyone know what that sensor is? i'd like to rule it out as a cause.
I also noticed the cluster and radio lights won't turn off.. even without the key in the ignition... thid started just before it broke down, but go worst after the rebuild ( before it was just the odometer backlight... now it's all of them) anyone know where the relay for that is. I'd like to rule that out a well.

that sensor is probably the temp sensor... it was an update they did..... as for the relay... sorry no help..... i know there have been other people who rebuilt upgrade parts and had same symptoms.... might want to try searching just the b5 section with key words and go from there

no and no.... i am just one of the more active members..... look at my post count and when i joined

i am saying there is a sensor that was added to the back side of the motor as an update.... without seeing the exact thing you are talking about that is all i can think of off the top of my head right now

but to get the most input i would post your threads in the b5 section or double post in both the a4 and b5 section.....
