99 1.8T missing on one cylinder
Hi all btw i'm new!
I have 1999 1/2, A4,1.8T, lady has been driving it for the past 4 years. Yesterday she stop the car and when she start it back up it started to run funny. When i got home i checked the car and obviously it sounded like it was running on 3. So i disconnected the coils one after the other and one cylinder is in fact missing. I swap the coils and same thing on the same cylinder, so it is not the coils. I replaced the spake plug in the missing cylinder and same thing. All injector seems to be clicking. So whats next? i plan on checking cylinder pressure on all 4 hopefully this will turn to be ok, but it does not sound promessing. Any other idea?
Car has 200000k, totally stock

have u checked injector? or power coming to the coil?

I've swap coil, so i guess it is not the coil, but yes maybe it is the wire to that cylinder, how can i check that from the plug? Can i put the plug in the coil and ground it to the block and crank and see if there is fire?
I've just check pressure 155,180,170,170 (i may not have crank evently) i don't have much experience but i beleive those number means i don't have a mess in there, so that is good news.
Could the ECU fail? I'm going to try to drive it to a garage close by i know they have whats is needed to pull the codes.
Let me guess, is cylinder 2 failing? 2nd one back from the bumper?
If so, replace the ICM, and your misfire will be fixed. Its a pretty common problem on your year/engine.
You already tested for this by swapping in a good coil pack.
If you test the coilpack with a plug in the end of it, near a ground, you should find that its not sparking. While it could be an injector problem, its far more likely to be a bad ICM.

I'm a landcruiser geek and visit alot ih8mud, i'm always amazed at how problems are commun and how people are willing to help. This board seems similar.
You are right on, 2nd cylinder from the bumper, my guess it is the ICM also, building next to my work sells only Volks audi parts, i just drop the car there to check the code and change the ICM for possible failure to it.
