Tried searching with no real luck.

My girlfriends A4 reported both of these codes at the same time. 422 Main catalyst efficiency below threshold (bank1), 432 Main catalyst efficiency below threshold (bank2).One of the cats was determined bad and both were replaced with aftermarkets. The codes came back. We then switched both rear 02's with ones purchased from Audi. Codes came back again. When I connect my Palm to the car I can read data from the O2's and it appears within range so I don't think it's a wiring, or power/fuse issue. Can anyone steer me in a direction. The car appears to drive normally and does go into Closed Loop, however, we'll have emissions comming up soon and that's already a hassle.

you need a new catalytic converter. and probably new O2 sensors, but try just the cat first and see what happens.

 

The reason P0432 code means that your girlfriend have a failed Audi catalytic converter, failled 02(s), exhaust leak ahead of converter etc, Is the tranny shifting properly? Is the speedo working? Any work been performed recently? P0432 could be a temp sensor issue but still could be a coolant level issue, coolant strength, rad fan problem, etc. I've had lots of problems in the past with those codes using aftermarket parts so It might be worth verifying that the two thermostats openned at the same temp and that the install was in fact done properly...
