99 a4 1.8t - cylinder not firing
I am having the same problem with my 99 1.8t. mine has 123k miles on it. Brought it in; changed MAF, Ingintion control module, coil packs spark plugs, air filter fuel filter, and its still getting a check engine with cylinder 3 misfire- and stuttering so bad i can barley drive it. no idea what it could be. also the compression tests came back fine.
Cylinder 2 misfire. Changed all 4 plugs swapped coil 2 with 3 and still misfire in 2. havnt checked fuel injectors or replaced any packs yet. also 99 1.8t b5 preface. Any suggestions on how to test fuel injectors? control module u say??? Hmmm???
Any helps asap will be appreciated. workin on it in the morn.
Thanx

There is a recall effective for various early 2000's audi coilpacks. There is a design flaw with the head element where moisture can get in and short out the unit causing it to fail.
To confirm it's spark, pull the plugs after the car has been running for awhile and see which one smells like fuel.
If your make/model/year is covered by the recall, the dealership will provide and install the coilpacks for free.
I just went through the motions with my 01 a4. Cylinder 2 was misfiring and the car ran like ****. Call your dealership to see if you are entitled to new coilpacks!!!
Spreading of lore on these forums is terrible.
