I read in the manual about the security code and where to find it but the tag in the truck is unclear as to what numbers are the actual code. I tried a 4 digit number from the tag but it didn't seem to do anything. What number should I be looking for. There are quite a few with no markings to what they belong to and the Bentley manual doesn't say, just that they are located in the truck right hand side. Thanks

 

I should be getting the keys tomorrow and I only paid 4 dollars for them so not a huge lose.

 

the code is a 4 digit number. Where it is exactly in the trunk I don't know, but if you google it, I've seen people talk about where exactly it is.

I was fortunate enough on 2 of my radios that the previous owners wrote the code ON TOP of the radio head when removed...good idea...so I started doing it.

You need to look at the wiring that goes TO the radio, hopefully no one cut it etc...if you do get a factory radio (or have it), make sure ALL the wires are back the way they were. You WANT your OBD port to work correctly, then you'll get all the accurate codes.

If all else fails, I've read a bunch of threads where people called Audi USA and got the code for free (all you need is your VIN if it's the original radio-otherwise, S/N of the radio you have.....so, that is an option as well.
