Default A4 control arms

Hi everybody,

I have a Audi A4, 1.6. For my last two MOT's Iv'e had to replace almost all of the track control arm's at the front on both sides. Last replaced in August 2003 (previously August 2002). Today my wife was coming into our street with a car full of children when the nearside front bottom balljoint tore completely out of the socket causing the wheel to damage the wing & a large leakage of gear oil. Thankfully all were ok. Looking at the part it looks like a bomb exploded inside it. Has anyone else had this type of problem? The part is an Audi part. The car only does approx. 7k a year. I am seriously thinking of pursueing the part supplier for redress. Any help would be appreiciated.

i have never heard of a control are doing that. good thing nobody was hurt . control arms going bad meaning annoyling squeaky sound is normal for our cars. i replaced my two lower ones last year and now i have one more that is realy squeaky. to save some of my money and time from dealing with these issues over and over i bought a kit from ecstuning.com for all 8 control arms and tie rod ends for $600. some time next week i hope to have them installed. the ones from ecs are upgraded ones might want to take a look at them.

I have seen pictures of a blown control arm ball joint. A guy's A4 did that in a parking lot once.
You are replacing your control arms every year?? That's insane and is definitely not normal.
Are you having Audi do the work when replacing them? Are they replacing all the hardware
also? (bolts, etc)
