I have a 1997 A4 1.8 SE. The service says In 2. I have followed the instructions on this post :

but but the flashing "In 2" never changes. I have held in the button for well over a minute.

Does anyone know how I reset my car? Here is a picture of my dash for reference.

You need a vag-com for 96-97 cars

 

if you have a laptop or a computer you can haul out to your car then just get a USB Vag-Com

I got his one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=330143470185for $15 total with shipping. shipped fast got it in 3 days. then download a demo of the Vag-Com software from http://www.ross-tech.com/and your all set.

Disclaimer: I have the full version of ross-tecch software and don't recal what limits the demo has. but I think it lets you do a decent amount.
