A4 TDI in the States?
Hey everyone, newbie question. I'm a big diesel fan and since I live in America, I'm out of luck unless I want a VW. I would prefer an Audi. :-)
Does anyone know of any plans for Audi to bring the A4 1.9 TDI (or even 2.0 TDI) to the States? I really want to buy a diesel car, but I'd rather have some luxury while doing it. My 1979 International Scout is too old-school diesel, and I don't think the word "acceleration" was in the dictionary yet for diesel engineers.
So is there any hope? Or am I stuck with silly gasoline cars?
Hmm... the Smart car diesel is available in Canada, and Vancouver is only an hour away...

well I am German, immigration to the US in 2001
I still have a A4 TDI 2.5 sitting in Germany. I am going back and forth whether I should ship it here or not.
My biggest worries are the registration in California and the diesel quality

Make sure you can pass emissions before spending cash to get the car over here, especially if you live in Cali.
It takes a while to shop a car over. Lots of red tape and forms and documents to have signed. Lots of inspections.

Getting the emission data of the car is not a big deal. OTOH Germany has the most strict emission rules in Eurpe and as the 2.5 TDI meets all I am having a litte confidenc I could do it.
BTW: The 2.5 TDI's are free of car tax in Germany due to the litte emission they have
