My buddy has a B5 A4 quattro tip that goes fine in reverse but dosen't want to go forward. I was thinking that the one cv shaft might be shot and that would keep it from going anywhere, but it still goes backward which is really throwing me off. Any help appreciated.

 

It isn't a cv shaft. It won't go forward in any gear?

 

Let me re-phrase it will go forward, but not very well. Almost like the trans is in limp mode, but there are no codes in the system at all. When I broke a cv in my fwd a4 it wouldn't go anywhere and I actually talked to a tech at the local dealer and he thought of the cv shaft as well, but couldn't explain why it would still go in reverse. The car was hit in the driver front side and nothing trans-wise seems to be messed up.
