Thats a 97 4.4 liter V8-- shes in the shop as we speak replacing the 1.8 liter 4--will be ready in mid April-- I can't wait-- with a standalone engine management -- and some custom headers should be pushing 380-400hp
well **** i hope you get a big brake kit
Oh yeah -- front and rears--got the engine out of a wrecked 97 540i-- only 50-60K on it- $1500 complete

Make sure you change the timing belt before 90K mi. The valves and pistons will meet causing $3,000 damage if the belt breaks.

I paid $857 for timing belt, roller, tensioners, drive belt and v-belt at a local Audi shop 10 days ago. Labor was $410.00 and parts were $447.00

why don't you get an extended warranty, it cost a crap load of money but it is worth it if you break down, your still pissed off broke down but atleast your not paying for it, I just got the extended warranty for 3.0 qauttro because of all the work that has been done on it, one of the first things I checked was if the timing belt was covered and it is. when I was buying the warranty from audi($3,350, ouch,i'm still hurting from that one) a lady was in there and here timing belt broke and the bill was 5,700, but she had the extended warranty so all she had to pay was her 100 deductible. peace of mind for me, for atleast 5 years or 100,000 miles.

Firestone is not reliable audi mechanics, your talking about having tire installers and alignment specialists (if you even want to call them specialists) doing work on your engine that is critical that is done right, its not hard work, but i wouldnt trust them to do it.
