ABS + Brake Light?
Think I found a temporary solution to my problem so I can drive it around without having to worry about my ABS going bonkers. Unplug the ABS control module entirely, right under the hood. My friend recommended I disconnect all the wheel speed sensors and go without ABS (thats what he did with his Jeep XJ for offroading), but I figured there had to be a better way to do it instead of ripping out the wheel speed sensors, so I got out my Chilton and poked around under the hood. Unlike just pulling the fuse, the engine still fires when I try to start it up.
Anyone who's bought one of these ABS modules care to share what the price is? Does the dealer have to replace it, or can a non-Audi mechanic fix this problem if they can get the module?

Is it safe or OK to drive it unplugged? I don't feel like spending a lot of money to get this fixed.
Are you sure thats the ABS? Mine is under the hood, along the driver's side fender.
If you drive with it unplugged, you are basically driving without ABS. If the problem is intermittent, then the first thing I would do is go through all your wheelspeed sensors and clean them to make sure thats not the problem. Any damaged ones should be replaced, or at least make a note of which ones it is so that when you have to the money to fix it you can. The sensors are only a hundred or two, while the module is over $1000.

If I still get the warning, I'll unplug it. Glad to know it's like driving with regular brake, no ABS.
Thanks a bunch.
