ABS light on and Brake light flashes???
my audi 99 A4 has that same problem. when i drove it off the lot the lights were like that so they got me an appointment to a audi dealership (got it at a honda dealership). they said the brakes were fine but anyways i droped my car off wedesday and it turns out they need to order some computer part. so i have to wait another week before this problems gonna be fixed. thought im happy im not paying for any repairs as its still under the 3000 miles or 60day warranty. the guy said the part they ordered was around 1000 bucks. so hopefull some time in the weeks comming it should be fixed.
Do a search for Steve Hall Vag Com Locator. Also do a search on this forum for ABS ESP. July '05, there was a method posted to showing which wheel had a dirty sensor, using a VAG-COM.
Audiscientist posted it on 7/8/05 in the GENERAL TECH FORUM.

my abs and brake light have been on for over a year. when mine died, it was all of a sudden and sometime it would be fine, then other times it would be on. i have been driving fine on it, yeah i have no abs and no edl, but i did fine in the snow without it, my fluid was level and has been flushed since then, still the same. the beep, beep, beep will get annoying at first but i don't even realize it anymore.

Unfortunately I have to agree. Dealer's suck. Do yourself a favor and find a local mechanic who's comfortable working on German cars. If you're tackling it yourself ... fluid first (might want to bleed), then pull, clean and reseat all the sensors. If that doesn't work, I'd check the abs controller but I don't know much about that stuff.
Good luck.
I had the same problem....Your ABS system is dead. It happened on a lot of Audis. I know at least 6 people in my little town that it happened too. We all contacted Audi of America to let them know, just incase down the road they would do a recall or something because this part costs a lot of money.
I drove mine like that for about a year. Nothing is wrong with your brakes, just your ABS system is out. ABS is a good thing to have so I reccommend getting that fixed if you have the funds to do so.
I also know that they can be rebuilt for a lot less (around $500). That's what I had recently done to mine. Ask a local mechanic and see if he can do that, or if he knows anyone who can. That's probably the way to go if you can't afford the thousands it costs to replace the ABS box.
