Default ABS problem rotor related?

Hey guys,

The A4 I'm looking at has an issue with the ABS. One of the fronts engages into ABS for no real reason and way before any of the other sides. I have seen erratic ABS problems from REALLY badly worn brake rotors, and ths car has some sorry looking ones.

I figure the problem is just that one of the sensors needs to be cleaned and or replaced, but I'm looking for clarification.

TIA!

my car used to have some abs problems....it would always pull that "thud thud noise" as if it were panic braking.

THen a few days ago my drive axle broke and when I replaced it with a new one I had no more problems...during the instal you have to simply move the abs sensor, I didn't clean it or anything. I was also reading and I saw that the drive axle has some type of abs ring around it???? That might be your problem somehow

ABS sensors are usually a magnetic mechanism (I think). The ABS ring is either on the axle or on the hub itself.

Thanks for the replies! I'm probably going to be buying the car regardless because the price is extremely low (long time friend). I'll update this thread when I figure it out.

i have the same problem,
at slow speed, it grumbles, rite before the car stops.
it happend when i had the pass side drive shaft replaced,
the sensor was replaced, and it was better, but not gone, my thaught was the roter, mine looks like hell, but i have been holding off till i upgrade...
please let me know what the result is....
my local non-audi guy spent a week adjusting the sensor, and now it happens 1 out of every 10 stops.
and mine never goes off at hard stops (for no reson..
