Hey Guys,
I have a 99 2.8 Q and I have noticed something on my car, maybe its nothing or maybe it is something that is why I ask all you great minds out there. I can lift my Accelerator (GAS) pedal up about 6 Inches while the car is in park or whenever I am not pressing thge pedal down with my foot. I can lift it up (PULL UPWARDS ON IT FROM BEHIND THE PEDAL WITH MY FOOT) and it will drop back down to its position. I cant however lift my Brake pedal up though, that seems to be firm and in place. I was wondering if this is normal or it is something I should get checked out. And could this have any effect on my car that might be noticeble.
Also, I am hearing a WHOOORING NOISE from my Right REAR tire area of my car. However, I have noticed that when I turn towards my RIGHT, and especially at higher speeds the NOISE ( STILL WHILE TURNING RIGHT ) the noise goes away. Any ideas on what this might be aswell?
Please answer both those questions and I thank you in advance

RE: Accelerater (GAS) pedal can be lifted up about 6 INCH. THIS RIGHT?
I think the gas pedaal is normal.
Tire noise or wheel bearing. Probably the latter. Rotate tires and see if the noise follows the tire.

hmmmm, my pedal is solidm just dont repeadidly lift it, it could make it worse, the tires. Have you done any thing to your suspension?
Nope nothing done to suspension. However, I have winter tires on the back 2 wheels and All-seasons on the front 2. Do you guys think I need an alignment to make the noise go away? I ask this cause again, today while driving and slighty turning to the right or changing lanes to the right or turning to the right the noise goes away. If it is a Wheel bearing does that mean I have to replace the Wheel? ( the tire? rim? what?)
Thanks Guys again

Well, first off, you should be running all the same type and size of tires on a quattro. Either all winter tires or all-season.
If tires are different size, this puts tremendous strain on the differentials.
An alignment wont do anything. Sounds like a wheel bearing.

Yeah...I had all winter tires first on all wheels, however i got a flat on the front left one and since I knew I need all seasons I decided to get 2 front tires all-season. Just waiting to get some cash to buy rears.
But I want 4 brand new ones, although the front 2 are brand new, the tires arent amazing. They are H rated but still I prefer better ones. They are some no-name company.
See my delima is that I want to get RIMS for my car and I dont know If i want to get rims that allow Low-profile tires. I cant get low-profiles now to put on my STOCK rims that come with the 99 2.8 Quattro and then use the same tires to put on the RIMS that I want, CAN I?
I like my STOCK rims, however I would prefer them to be 1 inch bigger so I can put on them low profiles, can this be done?
Or should lower my car first then buy RIMS and tires to match?
How much would the wheel bearing cost? and can I get them online for a good price?
Thanks guys

Before you start replacing parts, make sure the diagnosis is correct. The bearing is not that expensive, You can try ECS tuning or a myriad of other places that you can find using the search option above. Unless you have a hydraulic press, you will have to have the work done at a garage.
Make sure that you find one that specializes in Audi/VW/Porsche.
I'd guess total cost inc part and labor would be around 200 dollars.

Sorry, I'm a former Torontonian. I moved away about 16 years ago to the US.
Check the link below. It is a list of people with VAG-Coms to pull codes. Sort through it. There are a number of people in the Toronto/ Hamilton area who have them. Shoot one or two emails and see if they can point you to reliable mechanics in the area.
