As I was saying in my first post 2 days ago, I picked up a 2003 A4 on Saturday. Tonight was the first night I had it out after dark and I think the headlights are out of alignment. I’m a little freaked out now since this probably means that there was some work done to the front end, although the paint matches perfectly and there’s nothing noticeable under the hood.
A friend has another make w/ Xenon’s and I seem to remember they lit up the road very nicely. Mine seem to be pointed straight down and the “line” is visible just about 20 feet in front of the car on the driver’s side. At about 10 feet from the garage door, you can see that the driver’s side headlight is some 5-6 inches below the passenger lamp.
I searched the forums and read about some auto leveling feature… What’s this all about? Next, although I saw that you can stick a phillips down one of two holes and start turning, there wasn’t anything related to aiming them to spec. You’d think that since there’s such a distinct line available for aiming, it would be very easy to aim them yourself at the garage door X feet away. Anyone know how to do this without taking it to a dealer?

Well, I dont have an audi but my g/f has a Infiniti QX4 and the xenons on that car can go up and down and sometimes it seems as though they are out of alignment. There should be a hole just above the headlight cover in order to adjust them up and down. If that helps at all.
RE: Aiming Xenon Lamps
when i bought my a6, my HIDs were aimed really really low, couldnt see 10 feet infront of me. there is like a white(colour of mine) plastic screw where the hids are, theres one for up and down, screw that, i pointed mine high as i could get em, look fine now. best place to do it is with ur car facing a wall, so u can match ur left side with ur right, leveled. i did mine in my garage

With high beams on, back away from a wall. Adjust the ouside screws for toe in or out. Make them parallel. Raise the driver side with the inside screw. It should be lower than the passenger side. Drive at night on a level road, adjust as needed.
