Default alarm randomly going off?

i have an 01 a4 2.8QM and the alarm keeps going off just randomly...the first time i found it with the alarm going off i was scared until i realized nothing touched the car and no windows were cracked and the sunroof was closed. it happened then went away and now its happening again...anyone know possible reasons or have the same thing happen to them? there is nothing in the car that would trigger the motion sensor

Open and close all the doors, hood and trunk.

I had that problem and it was the hood alarm that was going off for no reason. Re-closing the hood stopped the problem.

I'm not sure if your car has it but there should be a button on the inside lower pillar that has a picture of a tower on it with waves coming out of it. That button sets the inside sensors that make the alarm go off. If you push that button when you get out of the car, the alarm should stop going off randomly. The bad thing is that you have to push it every time you get out. That should solve the problem. Good luck.

yes that may solve the problem but its the button for disabling all of the motion sensors so i dont know how good the alarm is without the motion sensors and i would rather have it be working correctly than half working

I had the same problem... seems to be not too rare either. Dealer had to check every sensor (doors, hood, trunk, etc.) to find a faulty connection for the alarm. Finally found a bad rear door sensor and problem ceased on the spot. Hope this helps.
