Default Alternator

I got my 99.5 A4 Qua about a year ago. It had 32K on it. Now they are telling me it needs a alternator. The car would jerk the battery, ABS, Brake lights would come on. The car would beep twice and die. The Tech said that the battery was draining the alternator.

You know when I was looking at this car on the lot the battery died a few times because people were leaving the inside lamp on. They would jump it then. The tech said it was from that. Too late to go back to the lot. Thanks I just needed to vent. [sm=smiley19.gif]

Yeah, make sure you get both checked out so you know for sure that the problem is one or the other or both. Lots of places do that free, of course they hope you'll buy your parts there, but hey, it's free. Keep us posted.

don't replace the alternator without actually getting the alternator checked! Check all the connections too. Sometimes the connection to the alternator might get loose.

i know how it feels man, i went through 4-5 alternators in 2 years on my truck...

but make sure you get at least a 1 year warrenty w/ the new alt if that is actually the problem...

i had one alt die about 6 months before my warrenty expired, so i got a new one under warrenty... the alternator then had a year warrnety, so my trucks warrenty was out but the alt died again within a year, so they kept replacing it for free...

Thanks for the advice everyone. I got my baby back yesterday. It did not cost as much as they said. It was the alternator. [sm=smiley36.gif][sm=thanx.gif]
