I'm new to this forum. I just bought my first Audi A4 last month, a 2002 and its great. Im changing the oil to amsoil just because of what i read on it. the correct oil to put in it 5w-40 Europeon engine oil, but that will only last to Audi drain specs. Does anyone know if it would be alright to put 0w-30 or even 10w-40.

Funny thing, I got up this morning to ask nearly the same question... I too am looking for reccomendations of brand and weight of oil I should use in my 1.8T. I live in the northeast US and daily high temp should soon be getting into the 70's. I've been a avid user of Castrol for many years, but I would like to know what everyone else is running and where their preferences lie, especially with this motor. And I'm looking for something I can buy over the counter at a local auto supply store and not something I have to order from the dealer or from Gemany.

Use an oil that meets ACEA A3, like Mobil 1 0W-40 or Castrol Syntec 5W-40.

 

i have been using amsoil for a long time now. i was using 5w-30 now using 5w-40 euro formula. if you have a turbo car the make a specific oil for it to. just look up it on there site

 

full synthetic mobil 1 5w-30

 

I love my Amsoil 5w40 euro car formula!!! It makes me feel fuzy knowing its in the crank case...
