search audizine, audiworld, and other audi forums, as you have already started...
It's VERY worth it to purchase a service manual.... If you can't afford a Bentley manual,
get a Haynes manual like me [8D]
It's really worth it if you capable of doing basic mechanic work....
I was a total noob when I started... and between the forums and the manual,
now I do everything, starting with oil changes, flush and fill coolant, breaks, cleaning MAF, so on ...
and hopefully I'll be replacing all of my front control arms and tie rods....
I must've saved at least $1000 on labor already since I got the car in the beginning of the year...
Hayne's manual.. think it was around $30 at pep-boys... or less...
oil change... around $40 for M1 and Mann filter....
Spending hours of time with your car, sweating your ***** off, and successfully completing a task...

The Bently manual is a much better one: http://bentlypublishers.com/

http://www.audiworld.com/tech for how-to's.
