i tried today, on my 96 audi , and it did not fit for some reason... did yours click right in to place like the old black one? i had teh sensor in the hole, with the retaining clip on, but i just could not get teh harness on top of teh sensor for the life of me.. i also tried gfetting the sensor in the harness first, but it did not fit right.... i then tried the old balck one, and it CLICKED rite into the harness.. anyone else have this problem?

also, does this sensor just monitor the TEMP ? so this would not cause a blinking coolant light would it?

no one did this? i thought it was a common problem on a4s.....

Yeah, it is a fairly common problem on the 1.8t. Jestnomen is right, it's very easy to do. I replaced mine about three months ago.

 

You simply may have been given the wrong sensor - I don't think the current OE upgrade is GREEN.
