I'm going to install my amp in the trunk to run my new subs (save the $75 install charge at the local place). Has anyone done this before on an A4 (mine is the '97 i think that's the b5 model?). In your average car you can just pull the side runners and carpeting and slip the wiring under from the front to the trunk, but i've seen pictures of audi's with their passenger seat out. Is that going to be necessary?

Some advice or a link would be nice, if anyone knows of someone who has done this, is it relatively the same as any other 4 door sedan? Thanks.

I have a 97 also, and installed an amp this last spring. Its faily simple. I don't know of a tutorial, but I will try to remember for you...

Run your line from the battery into the ECU box. If you're not familiary with your car, its the black box on the drivers side, below the winshield. If you look at the front of the box (facing headlights) there is a big rubber grommet. Remove the ecu box's cover and wiggle the grommet up. Then slide your power line through the box. On the back side of the box (facing driver) is where all the wires go into the passenger compartment. Run your power line through that hole and behind the knee bolster. I didnt have to remove any of the kick plates or trim pieces at all. I then pushed the cable under the door sills to the back seat. It was easier to remove the rear lower seat. It just pulls up with a little force. No bolts or anything to remove. You then have a straight shot under the seat to the trunk. Then you should be ready to go. Make sure you install an inline fuse very close to the battery. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Jared what Gauge wire did you use?
I used 4GA becuase I HAD 2 amps and I had to pop all the sill plates and remove the rear seat because the wire was pretty thick...

If you have to remove the rear seat its very easy all you do is push on the front botom of the seat towards the rear then up... it comes right out

hmmm....I can't remember exactly what guage I used. I just bought one of the 400 watt amp kits at walmart. I'm guessing it was around 8 guage or so.
