that looks like an intercooler to me too, but did audi move it to the passenger side on B6's?
I was wondering the same thing. On my B5 it's on the drivers side.

Can you get more pictures of it??? And of whats around it???

Josh
mine too, that's why I was confused. yeah, more pics (perhaps with something other than a camera phone ) would help a lot.

lol....Yea, that looked like the intercooler to me. its metal, with a plastic top, which has an iron pipe coming out of it. It is on the plastic that the gauge tube is located. Is there anyway someone else with a B6 could look at this (or you could probably just feel it, while the engine is cold, by reaching under the passenger headlight) to see if there is anything like this on their car. If there is no other reason for this other than the boost gauge, I am going to remove it and seal off the hole, and connect the boost gauge to the intake line like it should be.

p.s. I will try to get better pics tomorrow.

I think I'm going to. But I would like to know if something actually goes there....to me it doesn't look like that is the case but I want to make sure.

The intercooler on a B6 is on the driver's side too. I'm not sure, but I think that tube is the one going from the turbo to the intercooler.

That's the fuse to the bomb in your tubing, don't mess with it, or you will blow up!

That's what I meant. The IC is on the driver's side but the turbo is on the passenger side. Therefore, there is a tube (or probably more correctly, a pipe) that runs across the front of the engine connecting the turbo outlet to the intercooler. Assuming I'm correct (and that's a big assumption as I don't have my head stuck under the hood of my car right now) the boost gauge is presently connected to this pipe near where it connects to the turbo outlet.

Can you follow that pipe and see where it goes? Maybe take some more pics?

The two common places to hook up a boost gauge is on the vacuum line going to the wastegate controller or the one going to the fuel pressure regulator. Do a search, there are plenty of write-ups showing the proper locations.
