APR Chip or Not? Please Read!!!!!
Hey guys thanks for taking the time to read this. So I have been debating weather or not I should chip my car with APR if I would I would get all the programs and also would get a new DV from apr and a new intake from carbonio as well as the anti-theft program from apr. How will this affect my car in winter time? or will it? It gets pretty cold here I only put in 93 octane in the car. So with the car chipped and the new intake what kind of problems am I going to get my self into? My car still has a year of warranty left, and the apr dealer said it wouldnt affect my warranty! So I am wondering if you can help, please give me any benefits and trade off's I have searched a lot on this topic but really I want it focused on this particular case. Thank you for your time! Also I park my car outside when I am at work so in winter time it gets frozen how will it affect in warming up my car at idle and so forth! does it idle at higher rpms? Can this brake or crack the turbo????
I'm in colorado, and i'm getting my APR on tuesday, and in terms of winter... same rules apply as before, be nice to the car and let it warm up before flooring it and such, and let the car runn after driving it hard to get the oil flowing out of the turbo before turnign it off and having it cake up in there, anyone have any good suggestions for turbo timeres for either of us?
I'm also in colorado. A chip won't affect any of the cold weather aspects, except, letting the turbo cool down. A chip will operate at higher psi, causing higer temperatures, glowing hot temps. So you just need to take time to let the turbo cool down before you shut off the engine. I.E. don't floor it then shut it off. I have the apexi pencil style tirbo timer, and it's works well, alot of people also like the greddy on, it has more features. Normally I don't even use the timer unless it's really cold, or I go to my parents house, which if 3 miles of uphill thenI stop. That's up linden road Russian.
i doubt the dealer can even tell its chipped... intake shouldnt hurt anything for the dealer anyway... ive had nothing but CEL's from the boost pressure regulation...i either have a boost leak, malfunctioning n75 or my r1 is defective......[:@]
im only making 18lbs peak and maybe 16lbs when i run hard and shift

correct, just make sure that your car is warmed up before you stomp the gas and use that turbo, and make sure you let your engine cool down before you shut it down, other then that, it won't effect anything.
How long do we let it warm up and cool down? I let it warm up for about a 2 minutes before driving it and I let it cool down for 2-3 minutes.. I'm not even chipped so I don't know if I'm just wasting my time. But when I am chipped (soon), will 2 minutes warm up and cool down be sufficient? What about the winter?
In the hot summer days (90 degree temps), warm ups are pointless correct? what about cool downs? Thanks!

As far as warming up goes, you can go ahead and drive it, just wait until the engine is warm before you go crazy with the turbo.
