Audi A4 starts but will not rev
Hey Folks,
I had a hard time starting my 2005 A4 (1.8T CVT). After several cranks, it finally started(I just did not use the car for a day). When it finally started, i depressed on the Gas Pedal, but now it doesn't rev. There were some vibrations, then it went away.
When I put it into Drive, it just crawled(literally about 1/2 MPH). Even when in gear, I stepped on the gas pedal and still does not rev.
What could this be. I called an audi mechanic and he doesn't know unless he sees it for himself. He probably wants me to get it there and I wont have a choice, but to get it fixed by him....who knows. Any advice would be appreciated.

its very hard to diagnose a car over the internet it coud be anything.
Try, testing the fuel pressure. That would rule out the pump as the thing at fault.
Next test the throttle position sensor or throtle module. There is a procedure to do this in the service manual. The service manual should be on google.
Next possible place is the ignition coils. you can test these using a VAG com to see if theres a missfire in any of the cylinders. The service manual also has a procedure on how to test them using a multimeter
If fuel, and ignition is there the next test is timing specifically testing the cam position sensors.
all of that ruled out its something else maybe an airflow sensor, etc.

So? You posted a valid valuable problem. You didn't post the cure in the end.
Is it still u/s? You check the fuel pressure? TPS ok? Badly blocked/failed filter? Coil breaking down? MAF fault?
These kind of experiences really do need following up with an updated post.
Hope you beat it.

Hello frends
The A4 is available as a saloon and wagon. The second and third generations of the A4 also had a convertible version, but the B8 version of the convertible became a variant of the Audi A5 instead as Audi got back into the compact executive coupé segment.
