Hello-

Can anyone tell me the specific details on replacing the A4 2001 A/T transmission oil pan gasket? 1. Does the oil pan require a gasket or just RTV?
2. If it requires a gasket does it require RTV? If it does require RTV will this lubricate the gasket and cause it to slide out and leak?
3. Do I install the gasket dry?

You would have to check to see what gasket is used on your car providing the VIN to the parts department at the dealer. Most likely its a paper gasket.
Always scrape off the old gasket, use some brake cleaner or electrical contact cleaner on the surface to get all the oil and debris off and put on the new gasket as dry as possible.
