Audi Engine Problem?? help?! thanks!
hi! i drive an Audi A4 1999 2.8L and currently i have a few problems. Recently, the car will not turn on so i went to autozeone to recharge the battery and after i did that, it turns on but the engine ildling is retarded and often, unless i keep stepping on the gas pedal, the engine will turn off. Do you know what is wrong with it? I also replaced the spark plugs, all six of them but the problem is still the same.
Another problem is the hand brake flashes when i put the hand brake down?
THe engine light is on and apparently, there is something wrong wit the O2 sensor. Do you know how much it costs to fix it? Is it safe to keep driving the car?
Those are my curren problems, any advices will highly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Sounds like you got a few things going on there. Anyone that just lists symptoms and asks how much it will be to fix is someone who is not mechanicaly inclined. Take it to a euro shop or get vagged, or both. Ive never heard of a hand brake flashing.
Could be anything.
First start with a throttle body alignment. Just turn the car to the "on" position and leave it there for 5 minutes without touching the gas. Then turn the car off.
That isn't the problem, however that is causing the codes.
Get the code numbers and post them.
There are 4 oxygen sensors on your car so you will need to know which one needs to be replaced.
When you changed the plugs, what did you replace them with. Did you do it yourself, and did you check the gaps to make sure they were correct for your car?

I believe you could have a problem that you have to take the car to audi for. Not sure, but if you disconnected the battery, I have heard that the car will not run correctly for quite some time or until the ecu relearns itself...or something like that. I could be wrong, but that could be the reason for the funny idle.
the throttle problems sounds related to airflow. it could just be a break in one of the boots/tubes or something, i saw the exact same thing this weekend, and the person temporarily fixedit with duct tape. its a cheap fix to do it right too
