Average MPG on 1.8T
Found this DIY on the fuel filter change. I thought I might do it but only after I confirm this week.

Well, CVTs are known to havebetters mileages than both manual or auto - your mileages are better than even the published numbers!
As some others pointed out- it matters a lot how you drive. I frequently push the tachometer to 4+ while accelerating ... the trip meter shows lower projected (miles-to-empty)miles for a few minutes, but then it picks up again. On an average, I get 360-375 miles ... and yes, my receipts confirm thatI gulp about 16 gallons every refille [8D]

Just a fair warning... you should followthe recommened tire pressure lable printed on the inside of the door jam. Max pressure is just a tire rating- your increased mpg may be due to your tire being taller since it is over inflated. They will prematurly wear in the center.
My mpg is hoevering around 31mpg now, mostly highway driving. I've reached 460mile on a tank once, over 33mpg I think. And this is with a B5 with over 200K miles on her.

I run about 420 miles on a tank, 80/20 hwy/city. Mine's a Quattro 5 spd. running on 17s. That equates to about 26 mpg. average. At my 105k miles, I should start thinking about new O2 sensors, but those are about $250.
Well after a week or so of driving I filled up again last night. I calculated it and found my mileage to be 18.35 mpg yet the dash display read 17.9? Anyways, its an improvement but still not what I was hoping for. Maybe a chip tune will fix this. LOL
