what is the fastest chipped b5 times? and what should an 01 1.8t chipped with 710n and K&N run in the quarter? (5spd)

im not 100% sure but i would guess low 15's maybe high 14's. i know that the Q's are heavier and i have heard a little slower. I have a 01 a4 1.8t FWD 5 speed chipped with giac, its fast as hell but i still have not run the 1/4 but i am looking to do so soon.

 

it seems like nobody runs these cars at the track and yeah my car feels fast as hell but its just the torque

 

the only prob so far that i can think of with the FWD is that in first when the turbo spools up the tires seem to break loose pretty easily. i would love to have Q but there really is not reason for me to have it in ATL.

 

everyone says low 15's to high 14's but that leaves like half a second difference? theres a big difference between a 14.7 car and a 15.3 car..

 

true but it does depend on how good the driver is and reaction time.......

 

figure they run a 16.5 stock... the chip adds about 50hp, the filter will add maybe 5-7hp...

ill give you 60hp with GIAC and k&n filter.

so every 10hp is .1 in the 1/4 mile..

a chipped A4 is gonna run a high 15... until i see otherwise this is what i believe...

a kid that i used to live by has a chipped jetta and its weak. the only reason people think these things are quick is because of the initial boost that you get from the turbo, but in reality they have a horrible low end, and a horrible top end, they have good mid rang power but thats good for nothing better than a mid-high 15 second quarter mile... i EMBARRASSED a stock 1.8t in my STOCK NON TURBO eclipse, it was a good 3-4 car lenghts..

i love audis, and even tho the 1.8 CAN be a quick car, just a chip and filter will not make it too fast. Most people think they are so fast cuz it is a huge improvement from stock, but i would bet a stock DSM would walk all over a chipped/filter 1.8t.

hence the reason i got a 12v 2.8l, lol...

 

so you are saying that the torque that you ALSO get from a chip is not going to do anything with the acceleration??
