If you have access to a Vag-Com you can make the sensor less sensitive.

^should be the same, assuming it's a 99.5+ car.

I've got a 98. I found a wire that looks similar to the one in the pictures in the link but when I openned it up i found 4 wires, 2 brown, 1 purple and 1 green with a yellow stripe. Did I not find the correct wire?

Dude, have you not been reading!? You've got a PRE-facelift car... yours is under your rear seat somewheres. God knows what wires you've just discovered and freed from their protective housing.

Yeah, this was under my seat, I have been reading. Black wire with a white stripe. Can't find anything else like it in there.

just did this mod, and it took me no more than 10 minutes.

the hardest part was figuring out that the damn antenna wire is actually attached to something up there in the bumper, and realizing that I had to cut it! I now have at least 40 feet of range (that's as far as I went anyway), I'm very pleased with the results.

I motion for the original thread to be moved to the DIY section. or at least 2K S4's original post in that thread should be moved to the DIY area. thanks again 2K S4!

You think it matters if you use a thicker wire than 22g? I used something closer to 18g... not sure exactly. Definitely thicker than the original remote wire...
I didn't solder, either... but I did intertwine them many times, and wrapped it tightly with electrical tape.
My range is improved a bit... but not drastically.

I used 16g, it's all I had. I just used a crimp-on connector, and my range is drastically increased.

how long a piece of wire did you use?
