B5 Sport Suspension upgrade
Alright ladies, as you know my rims are on the UPS truck and enroute to my place of residence. After my new shoes are installed, i'll be moving towards a new suspension. I've done my homework, but would like to find B5 owner's who originally had sport suspension on their car and upgraded to either coilovers or springs/shocks to get their input.
Now - the sport suspension drops the car 20mm over stock (about .75"), but i want to lower it a bit more without over doing it. Afterdoing some math, here are my calculations taking into consideration the existing .75" drop for the sport suspension
[ul][*]H&R Sport Springs/Bilstein shocks ( .5" F / .25" R)[*]H&R Race Springs/Bilstein shocks ( 1.15" F / .75" R)[*]Coilovers (fully adjustable w/ride dampening adjustment)[/ul]
Questions:
[ul][*]Are the H&R sports springs really worth it if it is only going to yield a .5" F and .25" R drop?[*]Are the H&R race springs too aggresive, slammingit to the point that i'll scrape on gum wrappers?[*]Are coilovers really that much of a pain in the *** to adjust that i'll probably "set & forget" them, making the additional cost of this set not worth it other than to get the exact drop i want? (i know, everyone praises coilovers)[/ul]
I'd like to see what you've done to your sport suspension that yieldeddesired results without sacrificing ride or the underside of your car.
I know this has been discussed a million times, and opinions will vary. I have a chance to get a set of used coilovers for $670, but they have 30k on them. I'd like to, but ikeep hearing the horror stories of everyone trying to adjust their coilovers.
As always, thanks!
