B7 Speakers... keep or replace?
Hey everybody, my B7 is my first Audi so I'm not sure if the audio systems of previous Audis are comparable, but I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on the standard audio speakers. I don't feel enough bass from them. I am thinking either of replacing the speakers that I have with whatever fits from Alpine or just adding an amp to the sub (might replace that if I add the amp) What do you all think? Oh yes, I am keeping the Audi head unit unless I can find one that fits PERFECTLY in its place.
Unless you wanna go w. top of the line Rockford Components for about $250 a pair, stick w/ stock speakers. Anything less than that will not make a noticeable difference. BUT a new headunit would make a considerable difference because it would push out more power to your speakers. or you can buy a seperate amp to run your speakers from...
yeah, the stock speakers are fine... and are brand new, so have lots of life left. I don't know about the b7, but b5's and b6's sounded great with stock speakers, and a bigger amplifier to power them. So, if he wants a bit more... just buy a sub amp, a speaker amp, and a sub. Could use high quality stuff, and have it installed for about 1K.
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll keep thinking about what I want to replace or add. The only reason I am leaning away from the purchase of the amp and sub and towards a multi-channel amp and replacing the stock speakers is because I don't want a big old speaker box in my trunk. There's something... I don't know, juvenile feeling about having my trunk taken up by one. More, one of the things I love about my Audi is that it has so much class. I'm sure there's a way to integrate things where it will still look good, but that may be beyond me. I can install an amp and speakers without any trouble, but modifying the interior? Oh, does anyone know the sizes of all non-bose speakers in the B7?
Don't know the sizes...
but as for your trunk space, contact JL at jlaudio.com and ask if they have a stealth box in the works for the 2005.5+ a4's. They take up very very little trunk space, and are custom fit to snug into the side of your trunk. Pretty sweet.
