Default Barage of newbie questions

Just bought my first a4 last saturday, have some noob questions.

1) Is leatherette really leather?

2) Is there any internal trunk release mechanism, or is it just the button on the lid?

3) Are the dash lights (tack and speedo) supposed to auto-dim when there is little light in the cabin?

Ok, so a little info on myself. Im new to Audi's, but not to tuning. Ive been involved with DSM's (diamond star motors, aka factory turbo'd eclipses/talons/and lasers) for about 3 years. Ive owned 4, my latest, a 93 Tsi AWD, ran low 13s at 103 with stock turbo, IC, and injectors. But DSMs are notoriously unreliable and I just decided I couldnt take it any longer. I wanted an e36 chassis M3, but in my price range they were either too high mileage or just ragged out, I guess the same goes for the S4s I looked at. My a4 was the right price and condition so I picked it up. I decided on FWD and I dont regret it too much, I guess in a 5spd the FWD would have been more of a handicap, but my tiptronic barely developes any lowend torque and certainly not enough to cause the torque steer and wheel hop I've experienced in my FWD DSM's. Im really hoping my new a4 is faster then I think, the dealership monkey filled the car with 87oct and I think that's causing the car to pull timing and decrease boost. I guess I'll start with baby steps and chip the car, maybe add some bolt-ons--intake, wheels, and such. I dont have crazy goals for the car, but a 95-100mph trap speed would really hit the spot.

Mind if I piggyback on the newbie questions? If not, I would just like to know what the B5,6 or whatever, mean when referring to an A4? If your gonna say, "My car is smarter then yours" then you gotta spell it right.

1996 to 2001 are the B5 Audi A4s
2002 to 2005 are the B6 Audi A4s

Thanks Panda. So that is like different generations of the A4? Different chassis and not many parts interchangable kind of thing? I would like a B5 A4 but, im not sure it's so much better than a modified 5k/200 QT. I bet they have a hell of alot less electrical/cooling/interior problems. Is the motor a 4 cyl. 16v?

the B5 has a 20v 1.8L turbo engine, and there is a higher trimmed 2.8 30valved engine. I chose the 1.8 because of its aftermarket and tuning potential.

We were pretty lucky in Australia. We got the Woodgrain/leather seats in 1996 with the 1.8 t/q. The 1.8 is by far the way to go but a few boys here have the 2.8 or 2.6 (I can't remember) and they get them going pretty fast too.
