Battery disconnection/reconnection.

Battery disconnection/reconnection.
I have a A4 18T(2003)AUTO.
I am about to fit a dension ipod kit and need to disconnect batt.do i need to beware of anything apart from radio code.
I have done a search and the only thing mentioned was a throttle body alignment to set idle again, but i can not see details on this.
I am making sure first having blown a ecu unit whilst jump starting my previous 2.6 cab. that was expensive!
Thanks.

RE: Battery disconnection/reconnection.
it needs to be connected to an ignition switched live so no need to disconnect the battery, what is an ignition switched live?? its a wire that only live when the ignition is switched on

No, the battery as to be disconnected while the dension kit is fitted.it gets its power from the head unit, which on mine is always live.
going by the dension instructions the kit sets itself when powwer gets connected, and there is a combination of things to do on power up.

All you have to do is turn the key to the position before starting the car. Let it sit for 3 minutes or so. The throttle body will align itself. You should be able to hear some quiet clicking from the engine area.

RE: Battery disconnection/reconnection.
I put the dension kit into my car around Christmas and I didn't unplug the battery. Your headunit isn't on if you don't turn it on, you won't hurt anything. Its a plug and play device - just plug it into the back of your headunit there is no disconnection necessary.
