Bilstein Coilovers. Knowledege & Advice needed!
DISCLAIMER: Excuse my horrible knowledge in this area.
Okay so i do not have any experience with suspension, but i do know that i want to lower my car. Im young and im learning as i go, suspension is next on the list!
I met a guy today that says he has some Bilstein Coilovers (didn't ask what model or anything) that he bought from a parts swap in Seattle and never used, says he paid $750 and he will sell them to me for $450 because they are just laying around since he sold his Audi.
How do i know if they are decent coilovers? Arent bilstein, or any kind of coilovers about $1000-$1500 brand new??
I feel like i shouldnt pass up this deal but at the same time i dont want to get ripped off.
What do you guys think?? ADVICE?
Oh and he says they are a bronze color, can you paint them or am i stuck the color they are from the factory??

Well, the colour of your coilovers really shouldn't concern you! What should concern you is what model they are... the only Bistein coils I know of are the PSS9's, and they are indeed worth 1500+.
You told us not to ask what model... but without knowing, we really can't help.

Oh no, sorry for the misunderstanding i meant that i did not ask him what model they were when i was talking to him
Yeah i was not aware there were any coils made for our cars by bilstein either thats why i was so skeptical, so i should find out what model and if they are for a quattro (that makes a difference?)
thanks

Yeah if the kit was from a fwd A4, it won't work on a quattro car.
It'd be good to find out if the kit is for a 2.8 or a 1.8T, too... although either kit will work, I'd prefer to get the 2.8 so it would be stiffer. Since they're coils, you just lower the perches a bit more.
But yeah, find out what model, and what condition they're in.

i have my H&R coilovers for a b5 2.8 quattro with only 10K miles on them. they ride great and ill ship them out to you for $1k...let me know if you are interested. They are the ulra performance coilovers and will fit any b5 quattro Audi
