hey all.
On the weekend i was cruisin and went to race my mate and as we took off i must have red lined my car to much or held the clutch to long or something and as my mates car was so loud i couldnt hear my own car and as i looked down at the rev gauge i was sitting on 7,000rpm i quickly shifted to second but as i did and put my foot dont i had no grab and my car just reved to 7,00 throughout every gear! i thought i had blown my gear box but after a minute or so it returned back to normal and it seems to be okay now (although my car stunk like burnt clutch all night!)

Can anyone tell me what i might have done to my gear box or clutch and if there may be any dangers in launching from now on?
and or how i can launch with out doing that again.

any advice would be a great help

 

wow - weird. Perhaps you fried the clutch so much it temporarily fused itself to the plate so it would not move?

 

Dont do any clutch drops, that isnt usually even necessary on audi/volkswagens, sounds like you just burnt the clutch up pretty bad if it's okay now, audi probably has some kind of safety feature so you wont blow ur engine, darn germans think of everything. I wouldnt be doing any hard launches from now on unless you want to spend an entire day and paycheck putting a new clutch in that car.

 

i had a class 7 race truck and it did the same thing and all i did was blow the cluch out i spun all the stuff off the clutch

Yeh im pretty sure i just really burnt out the clutch!!! s**t makes me sound like a really s**t driver hahaha! oh well ya get that i guess. i will just have to pbe more careful in the future, maybe even get me a race clutch! <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0"> <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0">
