need a little help, i think my turbo may be on its way out.

recently i noticed an intermittent high pitched whine coming from the passenger side when i let off the gas. the sound is mechanical (not a boost leak) and seems to be coming from the turbo. it mostly happens after i go into boost and then let off the gas.

what has me stumped is that according to my boost guage im still spiking at about 17psi which is what i normally boost at.

any ideas?

its not your turbo unless it sounds like a million screaming babbies. or a dentist drill. have you checked your wastegate?
