Default Boost guage reading question?

i installed a Auto meter boost gauge.......Homestly i dont know if the reading is bad or not.... when i turn on my car it reads -15 to -10, once i start driving it goes up to boost +10 to +15.......once i take off my foot of the gas it drops to -20....... i am trying to see if i have a leak somewhere in my vacum lines.

Are you chipped?

Mine only gets to about +5psi but I have old hoses so I'm pretty sure I'm leakin somewhere. You're supposed to push about 8psi and 20 vac. is good (stock).

-15 to -20 In HG is normal for idle. When driving you will still be in HG if you are off the gas... You only hit positive numbers when boost outweighs vacuum. So -20 is GOOD when at idle. It means you have no leaks under vacuum.

If you are stock you should only see a positive of 6-9psi. 12-18 if you are chipped...
