Default boost leak?

hey everyone.
I just got an 99.5 audi a4 quattro 1.8L turbo. has 117.000 miles on it and runs clean and smooth. I installed a boost gauge over the weekend and am starting to think i got a boost leak now. The boost peaks at 6psi then starts to drop of a 4500rpms and slowely falls down to 2psi before the next gear. i'm assuming this is not normal but wanted some input from you guys before i go and put it in the shop.
thanks for any help
