Are boost leaks problems with chiped 1.8t's
hello everyone i want to knwo if boost leaks happen often in b5 a4's. i have an 01 and in the last month with only1500km added to the car since my GIAC chip i have now had2 boost leaks from ripped hoses. is this common? am i gonn ahve to deal with this all the time or am i just unlucky.
The hoses/vac lines get crusty and rotted with age. Thats just how it goes. You should replace all your vac lines every 70k miles or so and always keep an eye on the bigger hoses. It was probably just time for your hoses to be replaced and with giac, the added under the hood temps/pressure might have been the breaking point for them. I dont thinkyou will always have boost leaks, but you should always replace hoses as they wear with age, naturaly.
Depending on what kind of hose you are using can base how long of life it will get but there is alot of heat under there and since there is always pressure being circulated, It will want to crack over time
