Default boost spikes

my car is tuned to run at 10psi, however yesterday while driving i would spike at 15psi then drop back down to 10psi. today i would hit 20psi and stay there all the way to red line. i got a ton more power out of it but i did nothing to make the boost level go up. i have herd of boost creeping but not 10psi worth of it. what could be going wrong or is this safe to let occure

It sounds like your running APR's chip so you should be spiking at 20psi... thats pretty normal.

He's running special software on a T3/T4. He said he boosts at 10, you should not be spiking quite that high. My chip is 14 and SOMETIMES ill spike 18 tops.

ya i have a manual boost controller and it is set at 10psi. i have a 2001 a4 1.8t. and i have a dv. but what would cause it to jump up to 20psi with out doing anything. im afraid to drive it cus it might go to 25psi. if this happens i think ill run hella lean cus its not tuned for that and possible blow my engine
