Bose Speakers -- Keep or Toss?
I think the actual size is 6 3/4 inches (or at least that's what crutchfield.com says)
This is how to get the woofer out of the decklid:
You have to take the carpeted cover of the decklid off. The whole cover. The speaker grills do not come off of this cover.
Put down your seats.
There are two clips that hold the cover down to the decklid frame near the edge where the seats make contact when they are up.
Simply pull up on the cover and they should snap loose.
You have to pop out the seat belt retaining cylinders from the cover as well. Before you pull out the cover, remember to unplug the rear decklid brake light. You'll have to reach your arm in there and do it.
Once that is done, just pull that sucker out and the speakers will be exposed, along with the brackets and screws.
enjoy

Hi there,
Just wanted to share that I had the same thing happen to me, I found that replacing the speaker myseelf was EASY and saved me several hundred bucks. BUT one thing I did find out after speaking to speaker professionals is that the entire system needs to be replaced if you are replacing that one speaker, so one just has to suck it up and get the speaker ordered from Audi....
Its worth it to fix the darn thing...
Peace out

Thanks brrman!
I was getting flustered with it...though it didn't look difficult in the first place.
Anyways, I went to order the replacement for it today and the Audi dealer here (Eau Claire) wanted $260 bucks for it! I almost shat my pants! For that I really could replace the entire stereo...anyways, I'm havin a friend go back to the Audi dealer in Appleton (first place I went with the $155 quote) and see if he can get them to order it.
The part number for this bose speaker is: 8D5 035 401 C
I probably won't order the part for a couple of days yet, so if anyone comes across one, I'll buy it from ya.
Thanks everyone for your help and time!
